Wordless…Thursday? Baseball and Zooey Present: “Snowed In”

Okay, so it has come to our attention that today might not in fact be Wordless Wednesday anymore, and we kind of missed the boat.  But can you blame us?  We’re cats!  We can’t be expected to keep track of the days of the week – that’s our human’s job!  They don’t even make calendars for cats…

Anyways, our human seems to think that being a human means being really busy all the time, and for some reason she won’t let us use the computer on our own…so we kind of just have to hang around and wait until she gets the time to type for us.  If you want to blame anyone for our tardiness, blame her.  She’s never on time ANYWHERE!!

But better late than never – we say.  We also say that this post isn’t even wordless, because we’re making an introduction, but since we already bent the whole Wednesday rule…what’s one more?

So without further ado, here’s our Wordless Wednesday on…Takin’ pictures and Talking about ’em Thursday?  (If you’ll notice, we got pictures of the whole fur-family in the post, today!!)

But us cats weren’t exactly jealous – it’s much warmer inside!

How do you like to spend a good snow day?  Inside where it’s warm, or outdoors playing in all of the powder?  What about your fur-kids?  What do they think of snow days?

Winter Safety for Pets

Hello all!  The winter weather has officially been upon us for some time now, and since it’s currently snowing in Oregon, Baseball and Zooey thought it was important to re-share these Winter Pet Safety reminders from last year, with a couple of new additions!

Cold winter weather can provide many hazards for your pet, especially outdoor friends and strays.  Be a responsible pet owner this year and follow these tips from Alley Cat Allies to keep your furry friend happy and healthy through the winter season.

Winter Pet Safety

Some additional tips that Zooey and Baseball wanted to add:

  • Remember – if you’re cold, they’re cold!  So be sure to keep pets indoors on particularly stormy, wet, rainy, or snowy days.
  • If your pets are indoor/outdoor, be sure that they are brought inside over night – temperatures can quickly reach freezing (or below!).
  • If it’s absolutely impossible to bring them inside, consider setting up a shelter in a garage or shed, with a bed, fresh food, and water.
  • Make sure outdoor strays have access to fresh water and don’t allow it to ice over.
  • Invest in heated pet bed and heated food/water dishes for outdoor strays.
  • Feed outdoor strays extra – staying warm when it’s cold out burns more calories.
  • Make some roughneck homes – an inexpensive and easy way to provide shelter and warmth for those feral or stray pets that have stolen your heart.

We Have Returned!!! – Back and Meowier Than Ever!

BandZ Heater Snuggle

Why hello everyone!!  It’s been quite a long time since we last met, hasn’t it?  And we have so much to catch up on!

Furs of all, I suppose we should apologize for such a long hiatus.  Some crazy stuff has happened in our neck of the woods, and we’ve only just now settled down and gotten used to it all.

I mean, for one thing, not only did our mom meet this really cool guy (she calls him “Captain America”), but he also happened to have THREE pets!  Which was definitely not so cool…at least not at the beginning!

Actually, it wasn’t terrible at first – he started by bringing over this strange little creature that we later learned is called a “Chihuahua,” but we just call him Doug.  He’s okay I guess.  Except when he tries to eat our food.  Dude, don’t you know that’s for cats? What a weirdo.

But THEN we found out that those other animal smells coming from Captain America belonged to CATS.  And that was definitely not okay.  It took us a long time to accept the fact that this Captain America guy, his strange dog, AND his cats would be sticking around.

And just as we were getting used to things – mom and that Captain America guy got married, and we MOVED!!

So now we live in a new house, and we have three new brothers to play with.  Not going to lie – moving and getting brothers was pretty stressful, and we weren’t always happy about it.  But as it turns out, this house is way bigger, which means there’s more room to run – plus there are more cats, which means there are more things to chase! All in all, I suppose we can’t complain.

But we do have a pretty good excuse for being gone for so long.

The good news is, we’re all happy and settled in these days, which means we’ll be back and meowier than ever in the coming weeks here on the blog!  There are still a few odds and ends that we have to over-see, so it might take us a while to get fully into the swing of things, but by golly, we’re ready to get our paws dirty (okay, maybe not so much) and get back to the business of being the cutest cats the internet ever saw!

In the meantime, our mom has taken to posting even more cute shots of us on Instagram!  We’re trying to convince her we need an account of our own, but so far you can follow along with her at the username TheHWL.

See you soon!

 Love, Baseball and Zooey

What Will Baseball Eat Next?

It’s still a bit cold outside these days for Mom to plant anything in the garden just yet. But that hasn’t stopped her from making a list of things she wants to put in the ground this spring!  Baseball is looking forward to the all of the new goodies he might get a chance to try out this year, as well.

Regular readers will remember that he’s a big fan of anything Mom eats – he’s even tried raw red bell pepper and raw celery!  Last year he also got to branch out and try some fruit, too.

Here are some photos Mom just re-found of him chowing down on some black cherries freshly picked from the tree in the side yard:

Have you ever seen a cat eat cherries?  No?  Mom says she hadn’t either.  But we’ll just keep doing our best to keep her on her toes!

*Note: This site does not endorse feeding your animals anything other than the food recommended by your veterinarian. These are just foods that, over the course of time, have fallen on the floor and Baseball has “cleaned up” (before I had a chance to).

What Is A Library?

A wonderful letter from E.B. White – author of Charlotte’s Web – to the children in the city of Troy about the important impact libraries and books have on reading, life, and education.
